Growing Geraniums

Growing Geraniums is the easiest of all plants as long as you give them a sunny position in well drained soil.

There is a tremendous choice of over 1000 varieties in upright and trailing forms. They range in colour from a deep red to white.

They are very beautiful flowers and are perfect for large pots and when bedded directly into the garden.

Geraniums

Geraniums root well from cuttings so you can increase your stocks easily. July is the best time to take cuttings.

Choose a healthy plant and cut off a strong shoot just below a leaf joint. Trim off lower leaves and any flowers or buds. Plant the cutting in a pot of potting compost. Keep the cuttings on a light windowsill and water only when the compost begins to dry. They should root within three to four weeks.

If you want to keep your plants over winter you must bring them indoors before the first frost. If you need to re-pot them for transportation try not to break off too many roots. Leave the plants in a cool light spot and water only when the soil is dry.
