Garden Fish

Garden fish are a nice way to add interest to any garden. You don't have to have a large garden to keep fish, some small fish can be kept in a small trough water feature and don't need a pond at all.

The easiest fish to keep are outdoor gold fish that you can pick up from most garden centers. The goldfish you find in pet shops tend to be for aquariums and not suitable for outdoor living. They won't require much work, you need to feed them and if their pond gets very dirty you will need to clean it.

Some outdoor fish can get very large so make sure you check this if you only have a small pond.

If you have a small pond or water feature that will freeze over in winter you will need to bring your fish indoors until the weather warms up.

Outdoor fish in a large pond will find food for themselves but you may want to supplement their diet with either pellet of flake fish food. Fish in small pond will need to be fed.
